In general Houston is a shoppers paradise. It is after all America's fourth biggest city so is sure to have wares and gift ideas for all. The Uptown/Galleria Area This area is located at the West Loop 610, Westheimer Road and Post Oak Boulevard. The Galleria features well- known names such as Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy's among others. All in all the Galleria has over 350 outlets. FAO Schwarz, Barnes & Noble and Old Navy can be found almost directly across the road. The Highland Village Shopping Center, which is also very close by includes a terrific selection of shops and restaurants. Downtown and Rice Village Houston's oldest department store is Foley's which is right at the heart of downtown shopping in Houston. Houston Center, which is not too far away from Foley's is also worth checking out for all avid shoppers. Rice Village is one of Houston's earliest shopping districts and has in excess of 450 shops. Upper Kirby District and River Oaks Specialty shops, art galleries, antiques stores and designer showrooms can be found in abundance at Kirby Drive. This is located between Rice Village and River Oaks. This is a great spot to shop if you want to find something different or want to find a nice gift. |
